About Eric

I guess this page is supposed to be about me and since I don't know very much about you, that's probably for the best!

I'm an English as a Second langauge teacher, currently working in the great Canadian city of Saskatoon at the University of Saskatchewan.  If you want, you can learn more about the University of Saskatchewan's Language Centre, which is where I teach academic ESL and manage the CALL lab.

I've been teaching ESL/EFL for about 15 years, roughly 14 of which have involved computers in some way or another.

I've run ESP classes teaching Microsoft Office, special seminars on web design and website creation.  Plus classes, seminars and sessions on

  • pronunciation
  • grammar
  • blogging
  • writing
  • video and audio editing
  • email discussion groups
  • how to type

and just about everything that might fit in between.

And, most importantly, after all this time, and all the lessons and students, I still firmly believe that you don't need computers to learn language.

Then there is of course the usual yada-yada that I'm married, have 2 great kids, have travelled the world and the seven seas (sweet dreams are made of this).

I'm totally into fly fishing and if I could somehow manage to figure out how to make a decent living with a fly and line I'd be waist deep in water every day!

Want to know more about me?

Read the blog regularly and you'll start to get a pretty good sense of who I am, and what I think.  You may not agree with, or like everything I have to say…but that's your problem, not mine ;-)  My goal here is just to toss out ideas that hopefully get people thinking and doing stuff that maybe they haven't tried before.

So, all that said, I'll let Tigger sign us off…
